UK Kennel Club approves breed standard
There has been great news for the Great Swiss Mountain Dog, with approval of the Breed Standard from the Kennel Club.
This means that Swissies are now officially recognised by the Kennel Club and are officially eligible to be shown in the UK in Import Classes, until numbers increase to qualify for their own breed classes. This also brings welcome implications for the future of the breed which has been given an excellent start in the UK by Kimberley MacDonald and the Great Swiss Mountain Dog Club of Great Britain.
Kimberley has been studying the breed for years, and has imported healthy, sound individuals to establish the Swissy here.
The Great Swiss Mountain Dog is a large dog which is beautiful both in appearance and nature, and can make devoted family pets. However, they do have a working history, so they do require regular exercise.
