West of England Ladies Kennel Association show
Some of us attend West of England Ladies Kennel Association General Championship show on Friday 29th April 2011.
Malvern showground is an excellent venue albeit cold and windy at first but it did warm up when we went in the ring at lunchtime. There was a total entry of 20 dogs entered over the Any Variety Working Import Register classes only 5 Great Swiss entered out of this 20. Samala's Blaize owned by Ms T. Stokes won 1st Post Graduate Dog class, the Judge Mr Frank Kane always smart and very professional and great with people and the dogs. What many don't understand is that a Judge can and does withhold 1st placing if he or she did or does not feel the dog worthy. Genuine Swiss Connection v.d. Dorfquelle for Swisshaven (naf) was in a class of 5 and as with our lovely Swissies, full of character and bounce, Luca was happy and jumping about enjoying himself as usual. Mr Kane told us that had Luca been more settled on the final move we would have been awarded 2nd place in Open Dog class but we were awarded 3rd place. Remember that the younger classes our Swissies we keep lean til around 15-16 months old not allowing weight on the joints. Shadetree's Aida was absent from Open Bitch class because she is shedding and coat not quite back yet.
We had an enjoyable few hours and the boys behaved excellent as usual, Luca just wanting to play with everything a fantastic temperament he has and I'm very proud of him and what he is producing in his offspring. He's 5 and a half years old now still full of himself and long may it continue. We have three new youngsters hitting the showrings from mid summer this year so good luck to them and looking forward to seeing them out and about.
